Istanbul Technical University was established in 1773 under the name of Mühendishane-i Bahr-i Hümayun during the reign of Sultan Mustafa III. The name of ITU, the first technical university of our country, is identified with the education of engineering and architecture, and ITU undertook the pioneering of innovation movements during the Ottoman Empire.
Developing the human resources for the Republic
ITU has left its mark on the reconstruction, modernization and management of our country in the Republican era. 1773 ITU Teknopark, in which ITU is the majority shareholder, so that a large part of its net income will be transferred directly to the university and will be managed in harmony with ITU every term, is a strong shareholder and stakeholder structure.
